Traditional Usages: Fever, Colds, Flu, Asthma, Catarrh, Nasal Catarrh, Sinusitis, Sore Throat, Respiratory Disorders, Chest Rubs, Congestive Headache, Pyrrhoea and Bleeding Gums, Traditional Aboriginal Fever Remedy, Malaria, Typhoid, Diptheria, Foul Diarrhea, Vaginal Infections with an unpleasant Odour, Gangrenous Conditions, Antiseptic, Herpes, Whooping Cough, Emphysema, Abscess, Acne

Parts Used: Leaves, Bark, Oil from distilled leaves
Administration Method: Essential oil, Chopped leaf for infusions.
Herb Action: Secretomotory, Expectorant, Weakly antispasmodic
Possible Side Effects: In rare cases, after taking eucalyptus preparations nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur.  
Herbal Research:
Health Warning: Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In large doses Eucalyptus is toxic. Eucalyptus preparations should not be applied to the face, especially the nose, of babies and very young children.  Avoid Eucalyptus if there is Inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and the bile ducts; or serious liver diseases. 


Eucalyptus, Lavender and Peppermint Oils - Herbal remedy for Sleep Apnea: Essential oils reduce inflammation of the sinuses. Try a few drops of peppermint or eucalyptus in a basin of hot water and inhale the steam before bedtime. Lavender oil also has a relaxing smell that can help you sleep. The steam may also soothe irritated throat and mouth tissues.
