Health Warning: Avoid during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding, cholestatic liver disorders, liver cirrhosis, hypertonia, hypokalemia, severe kidney disorders.
Possible Side Effects: On prolonged use and with higher doses, mineralocorticoid effects may occur in the form of sodium and water retention and potassium loss, accompanied by hypertension, edema, and hypokalemia, and, in rare cases, myoglobinuria..  


Licorice Root - Herbal remedy for Asthma: Licorice root is effective in treating bronchial asthma. Two capsules can be taken daily.

Licorice Root - Herbal remedy for Fibromyalgia: Licorice root acts in the body like cortisone but without the harmful side-effects. Licorice root supports the glandular system.
Health Warning: If overused, licorice can elevate blood pressure. Do not use this herb on a daily basis for more than 7-days in a row for fibromyalgia. Avoid using licorice root if you have high blood pressure. Consult your doctor before taking licorice root.

Licorice Root - Herbal remedy for Herpes:  It can be used to treat herpes. Large amounts can cause high blood pressure, salt and water retention. People who are taking diuretics and people with heart or blood pressure problems should not take licorice root.

Licorice Root - Herbal remedy for Melanoma: To the Chinese, there is no other herb that acts on such a grand scale except ginseng. Take one tablet of 380 milligrams licorice root extract before breakfast and one before lunch.

Licorice Root - Herbal remedy for Menopause: You can make a tea with licorice root. It has effects similar to that of estrogen. This helps hormonal conditions during menopause. Take one 380 milligram tablet of licorice root extract once daily.

Licorice Root – Herbal remedy for Oral Herpes: Shred or cut the licorice root into smaller pieces. Use a flat grater to shred the licorice root into smaller pieces. You can finely chop the licorice root, but grating will enhance the flavor of the licorice root. Grate enough roots for 1 teaspoon of roots.  Infuse one teaspoon of  licorice root in a cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Add peppermint or cinnamon for flavour.
Health Warning: People who are taking diuretics and people with heart or blood pressure problems should not take licorice root. Licorice root should not be taken for longer than four to six weeks. Consult your doctor before taking licorice root.
