Spikenard – Herbal remedy for Asthma: Spikenard is also known as Indian valerian or muskroot. It is available as oil and powder. In the Bible, spikenard is the oil which was used by Mary (sister of Lazarus)  to anoint Jesus' feet a few days before his death. It was a much valued perfume and was very costly. Spikenard has a spicy, earthy and musky fragrance and has historically been considered one of the most precious of incense substances. This herb has anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties and can treat asthma.  To prepare as an instant tea pour one cup of boiling water over a quarter to a half teaspoonful of powder. Drink 1-2 cups of tea daily. If desired add honey and/or lemon to suit taste.
Health Warning: Consult your medical doctor before using spikenard.
