Pink Eye (Conjunctivitis)

Pink Eye - Conjunctivitis: Conjunctivitis  is also known as Pink Eye and Red Eye. Conjunctivitis) is an inflammation or infection of the transparent membrane (conjunctiva) that lines your eyelid  and covers the white part of your eyeball.

Other symptoms of conjunctivitis include itchiness and watering of the eyes, and sometimes a sticky coating on the eyelashes (if it's caused by an allergy).

When small blood vessels in the conjunctiva become inflamed, they are more visible. This is what causes the whites of your eyes to appear reddish or pink.

Most cases of conjunctivitis are not a cause for concern but you should contact your doctor if you think you have it – especially if you think the conjunctivitis is related to wearing contact lenses. Your doctor will be able to check whether there is a more serious underlying cause of your symptoms.
