Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Dog Bites: Goldenseal can be helpful as a natural cure for a lot of health conditions or ailments but it is especially true for a dog bite. Taking goldenseal immediately after the dog bite can be an excellent home remedy in healing the wound and helping it to remain pain free.
Health Warning: All dog bites should be seen immediately by a medical doctor.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Chlamydia:  Goldenseal is also a broad based anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory substance. It contains berberine. Berberine can help eradicate chlamydia. Goldenseal also strengthens the immune system. Here is the recipe to make a tea from goldenseal: 1 teaspoon Goldenseal powdered root or leaves; 8 ounces boiling water. Boil and simmer the goldenseal in the water for 15-20 minutes. Strain and drink.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Cystitis: Take goldenseal extracts for 3 days. This is especially good for bleeding cystitis. It has antiseptic properties and is an antibacterial agent. See label for safe dosages.

Goldenseal – Herbal remedy for Hay Fever: Goldenseal improves the quality of the membrane as well as regulates the quantity of mucous into the respiratory system. Use as a mouthwash. Mixing 2 teaspoons of dried powdered goldenseal root and 5 ounces of boiling water for 10 minutes will yield a good mouthwash. This may be used up to four times a day.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Hernia:  Goldenseal can be used to alleviate heartburn caused by a hiatal hernia. It soothes irritation in the digestive tract including the esophagus and stomach. (Hiatal Hernia: A hernia in which part of the stomach protrudes through the esophageal opening of the diaphragm.)
Health Warning: Do not take goldenseal if you have high blood pressure. Goldenseal should not be taken for more than three weeks at a time as it builds up in your system causing toxicity.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Lyme Disease: Goldenseal tea is made by infusng one teaspoon of dried goldenseal root or powder in boiling water for about 6-10 minutes.  Drink three cups daily.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Nose Bleeds:  Goldenseal also helps to stop nose bleeds and to prevent recurrences. A teaspoon of goldenseal is infused in half a cup of boiling water for 15-minutes. When the infusion is cold, strain and put some drops into the nostrils.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Sinusitis: Goldenseal has many healing properties and can relieve sinus pain and cure infection. You can take 500 milligrams of cultivated goldenseal every four hours. You can infuse half a teaspoon of goldenseal in one cup of boiling water for 10-minutes, strain the infusion thoroughly, and allow it to cool. Soak a piece of cotton wool in it and rub on the nasal passages 2-3 times a day.

Goldenseal -  Herbal remedy for Oral Thrush: Goldenseal is a natural antimicrobial plant that can be used as a home remedy for oral thrush. Apply goldenseal liquid extract to patches of thrush with a cotton swab.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Vaginal Discharge: Goldenseal acts as an astringent which helps to calm vaginal discharge. The typical goldenseal dosage is 465 milligrams two or three times a day, or a quarter teaspoon of the liquid root extract once a day. Goldenseal is also available in a tincture, powder, tea or capsule form.

Goldenseal - Herbal remedy for Wounds: Organic goldenseal in a gel caplet is best because you can open the caplet and use the dried ground herb from inside to make an ointment. Open the goldenseal caplet and pour the dried herb onto a small plate. Add enough aloe vera juice to make a paste.  Apply the paste onto the infected wound and cover it with a clean bandage. Leave it overnight for the best results. In most cases the infection will be gone by the next morning.
