Arnica

Traditional Usage: External use for severe bruising, sprains, rheumatic joints, aches and pains after sports activities, Angina, Weak or Failing Heart, Wounds, Hemorrhoids, Bruises, Toothache, Sore muscles, Bronchitis, Stomach Ache, Diarrhea, Menstrual cramps, Insect bites

Parts Used: Flowers, Rhizomes
Administration Method: Whole herb, cut herb, powdered herb for infusions, arnica oils and ointment preparations for external application.
Possible Side Effects: Prolonged use can lead to skin reactions, arnica allergy.
Herb Action: Anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antiseptic.

Health Warning: Arnica can be toxic and should only be used internally under the guidance of your doctor. Do not use on broken skin. 


Arnica - Herbal remedy for Alopecia: Arnica can be applied to the scalp twice a day in the form of a cream, ointment or hair rinse made from arnica tincture diluted with warm water. Arnica increases local blood circulation and may thereby help promote hair growth.

Arnica - Herbal remedy for Concussion:  Arnica is taken orally, usually in the form of pellets or drops, both of which can be placed under the tongue.  Avoid handling the fragile pellets. Instead pour them directly from the bottle cap into your mouth. Place three homeopathic arnica 30c pellets under your tongue within 15 minutes of the trauma or as soon as you can get them. Continue this dosage every hour for the rest of the day, reducing frequency on the second, third and fourth days to three doses (one in the morning, one at lunch and one in the evening).

Arnica - Herbal remedy for Scalding: Over-the-counter skin creams and ointments that contain arnica can be used to treat swelling associated with scalding burns.
