Baking Soda

Baking soda is a pure substance (bicarbonate of soda).
Baking powder is traditionally a mixture of bicarbonate of soda and cream of tartar (from tartaric acid).




Backing Soda - Home remedy for Acne:  Baking soda is very effective in treating acne. Make a paste by mixing a full tablespoon with enough water to make a thick paste.  Apply the paste on the skin until it hardens. Wash it off.  Apply several times a week.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Abscesss: It is very effective as it draws the pus out of the infected tooth giving great relief. Rinse mouth with mixture of one teaspoon of baking soda stirred in half a cup of warm water - rinse  twice daily until abscess goes down.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Acid Reflux: Mix one teaspoon of baking soda, more commonly known as sodium bicarbonate, in half a glass of warm water and drink. This will bring quick relief .

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Athletes Foot: Add 2 tablespoons of baking soda in warm water and soak your feet for 30 minutes before bedtime. 

Baking Soda – Home remedy for Bad Breath: It is a great way to clean your teeth and get fresh breath. Put some baking soda in the palm of your hand, dip a damp tooth brush in it and brush your teeth.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Bedbugs: You can apply a paste made of baking soda and water to the skin.

Baking Soda – Home remedy for Bee Sting: Known as one of the most soothing bee sting remedies, baking soda must be mixed with water creating a thick paste and then applied directly on the bee sting.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Dandruff:  Add 1 teaspoon of baking soda to a handful of shampoo. Baking soda will clear excess flakes and clarify the scalp. Baking soda will also remove residue from flakes that are hiding in hair strands. Massage well into the scalp and throughout hair, then rinse as usual.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Dehydration:  A drink prepared by adding half a teaspoon of baking soda, half a teaspoon of table salt, two tablespoons of sugar and a quarter teaspoon of preferably potassium–based salt substitute is one of the most effective dehydration home remedies.
Health Warning: However, this rehydration drink therapy is not suitable for children under 12-years of age.

Baking Soda – Home remedy for Foot Odour:  Sprinkle baking soda inside your shoes to help absorb moisture and odours. You can also use a mixture of baking soda and finely crushed sage. Soak your feet in a bath of warm water and baking soda. Use 1 tablespoon of baking soda for every quart of water.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Gastroenteritis:  Take a glass of boiled water and add a quarter teaspoon of baking soda in it. Drink twice daily until there is improvement.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Heartburn:  Drink a teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water for immediate relief from heartburn.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Indigestion: Mix equal amounts of water and baking soda in a glass and drink this mixture to get immediate relief from indigestion.

Baking Soda – Home remedy for Oral Herpes: Baking soda mouth rinses can help reduce pain. Mix 1 teaspoon into half a glass of water and rinse morning and evening.

Baking Soda – Home remedy for Smelly Feet:  Sprinkle baking soda inside your shoes to help absorb moisture and odours. You can also use a mixture of baking soda and finely crushed sage. Soak your feet in a bath of warm water and baking soda. Use 1 tablespoon of baking soda for every quart of water.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Sunburn:  Dissolve some baking soda in water and make a compress using a clean cloth. Another way to deal with sunburn is to add half a cup of baking soda to a tepid bath and soak. Instead of drying the affected area with a towel, let it air dry. Baking soda is cooling and will help the skin retain moisture.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Zits: Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with some water to form a thick paste. Apply to skin. Leave it on until it hardens. Wash it off and dry skin.

Baking Soda - Home remedy for Vomiting: Mix 1 teaspoon of baking soda with 8 ounces of cold water and drink slowly. Within a few minutes, you should burp and feel better.
