Traditional Usages: Food, Ulcerationnin the Gastrointestinal Tract, Colitis, Hiatus Hernia, Bleeding from the Stomach, Throat, Bowel, Bladder and Lungs. Tuberculosis, Irritating Cough, 'Dry' Lung Complaints, Pleurisy, Bone Fractures, Rickets, Wasting Disease, Varicose Ulcers, Indolent Irritating Sores, Pus forming Boils and Gangrene. Bruises, STD Skin Lesions, Scalding, Rheumatoid Arthritis. Poultice use for Severe Cuts,Ulcers, Abscesses and to reduce Swelling around damaged or fractured bones, Sprains and Bruises, Period Pains

Administration Method: Crushed root, extracts, the pressed juice of the fresh plant for semi-solid preparations and poultices for external use. 
Herb Action: Astringent, anti-inflammatory, cell proliferator, demulcent, heals wounds, bone, and cartilage.
Herbal Research: Comfrey
Health Warning: Avoid during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding. Internal use is discouraged for fear of Liver damage. The use of Comfrey is restricted in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Germany.
Comfrey products should not be taken internally. When using Externally, it is recommended applying Comfrey extracts no longer than 10 days in a row, and no more than 4–6 weeks a year


Comfrey Root, Slippery Elm Bark and White Oak Bark - Herbal remedy for Dermatitis: Mix the following ingredients: 1 teaspoon comfrey root;1 teaspoon white oak bark;1 teaspoon slippery elm bark; 2 cups of water. Boil for 35 minutes and use it to wash the affected area. Available online from www.swanson.co.uk

Comfrey Root, Slippery Elm Bark and White Oak Bark - Herbal remedy for Eczema:  Boil one teaspoon of each herb (fresh or dried and chopped) in a pot of water. let it cool down and wash affected area with it.
