Health Warning: Avoid during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding, or if experiencing cholestatic liver disorders, liver cirrhosis, hypertonia, hypokalemia, severe kidney disorders. See your medical doctor.
Possible Side Effects: On prolonged use and with higher doses, mineralocorticoid effects may occur in the form of sodium and water retention and potassium loss, accompanied by hypertension, edema, and hypokalemia, and, in rare cases, myoglobinuria. See your medical doctor.  


Licorice - Herbal remedy for Alopecia: Licorice contains a chemical that can help prevent hair from falling out. Add licorice tincture or extract to your favorite shampoo.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Arthritis: Licorice is effective for arthritis as it contains anti-inflammatory properties. Two capsules should be taken daily however, do not take it for longer than two months as it can raise your blood pressure.
Health Warning: Consult your medical doctor before taking licorice if you already suffer from blood pressure.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Depression: Add some licorice root to water and boil for 15-minutes. Allow to cool and consume twice daily.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Fever:  A typical dose of whole licorice is 5-15 grams daily for 2-weeks. For long-term consumption, about 0.3 grams of licorice root daily is safe for adults.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Gastritis: Licorice helps heal the gastrointestinal tract. Take one tablet of 380 milligrams of licorice root extract 30-minutes before meals.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Gastroenteritis:  Licorice can help treat stomach flu. Reduce stomach and intestinal inflammation. A supplement of two grams of licorice daily for a short time such as a week  is fine but see a medical doctor for proper dosage if you intend to use it long term.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Hepatitis: Pure licorice root can be obtained in bulk. It has a distinct yellow colour due to its flavonoid content. Manufacturers use thick licorice concentrates which are included into a wide range of products. A typical dose of whole licorice is 5-15 grams daily for 2-weeks
Health Warning: Do not use Licorice on a daily basis for more than 2-weeks and avoid using it if you have high blood pressure.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Measles: Take a teaspoon of powdered licorice with honey twice daily.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Obesity:  Licorice root strengthens the adrenal glands, thus helping to sustain a regulated blood-sugar level and reducing cravings for sweets. Drink one cup of licorice tea twice daily for a week. Infuse one teabag in a cup of hot water for five minutes. Remove bag and drink.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Osteoporosis: Licorice is a strongly flavoured herb also known as sweet root. It is beneficial in preventing and alleviating osteoporosis.  Infuse one teaspoon of licorice roots in a cup of boiling water for 10-minutes.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Parkinson’s Disease:  You may also make licorice root tea to treat Parkinson's. You would need to drink one cup per day, infuse it in the same way as the skullcap tea. Licorice root also comes in capsule form and you may prefer taking it that way. Take one capsule three times a day.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Shingles: Licorice gel should be applied to the skin of the shingles sufferer. Apply a drop of gel on the skin twice daily. Licorice has also been found useful in treating the pain that occurs after the active infection has healed. 

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Stress: Licorice has been used as a mild antidepressant and is good for stress. Drink one cup of licorice tea twice daily. Infuse one teabag in a cup of hot water for five minutes. Remove bag and drink.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Thyroid Disorders:  It is very helpful for thyroid functions. Licorice is used to maintain a healthy balance between glands and energy building. This remedy gives you energy you need to stay healthy and maintain an effectively functioning thyroid gland. This is an all-natural remedy for thyroid disease and supports the thyroid to keep it functioning properly. Drink one cup of licorice tea twice daily for a week. Infuse one teabag in a cup of hot water for five minutes. Remove bag and drink.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Ulcers, Peptic: Make a tea from 1-5 grams of dried licorice root and take it three times per day. To make the tea, slice pieces of the root and cut them into small pieces. Use 2 tablespoons of root per one cup of water. Boil the water and root in a saucepan and reduce the heat and simmer for one hour. Strain the tea from the root and drink it. You can make extra and refrigerate it so you don't have to go through the boiling process each time.

Licorice - Herbal remedy for Vision Loss: Licorice is a very good remedy for loss of vision. Using this in a powder form provides the most beneficial option. Mix half a teaspoon powdered licorice root with half a teaspoon honey and a quarter teaspoon clarified butter. Pour mixture into a cup of milk and drink twice daily on an empty stomach.
