Gotu Kola - Herbal remedy for Amnesia: Gotu kola is a popular herb which is part of the parsley family. It can be consumed as tea, tablet or tincture. Take one tablet of  4 grams a day until condition improves.
Health Warning: Those who suffer from liver disease should not take gotu kola. Consult your medical doctor before taking it for more than six weeks.

Gotu Kola, Centella Asiatica - Herbal remedy for Autism: Centella Asiatica (also known as Gotu kola and Indian Pennywort) has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb. Centella  Asiatica has produced behavioural improvements in mentally retarded children and increased consistency in IQ. The herb was also found to help with general debility. Fresh leaves can be used in salads or dried leaves can also be used to make tea. One teaspoon of dried leaves can be boiled in one cup of water, strained and taken twice daily. Supplements are also available in varying strengths.

Gotu Kola - Herbal remedy for Burns: Gotu kola stimulates the growth of connective tissue in the skin, and may help burn wounds heal quickly. Use gotu kola for treating burns caused by scalding, explosions or electrical shock. Make a poultice by soaking a clean cloth in cold gotu kola tea and then apply directly to the affected area.

Gotu kola - Herbal remedy for Infertility: Gotu kola promotes connective tissue strength and the walls of blood vessels, including the seminiferous tubules that manufacture sperm.   You can use either fresh gotu kola leaves or purchase them dried at natural food stores. The results will be the same. For each cup of tea, place 12 fresh or dried leaves of gotu kola in a teapot or teacup and pour boiling water over the gotu kola leaves.

Gotu Kola – Herbal remedy for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder: Gotu kola has been used for centuries in Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese herbal medicine to alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety. You can use either fresh gotu kola leaves or purchase them dried at natural foods stores. The results will be the same. Infuse 12 fresh or dried leaves of gotu kola in a cup of boiling water for about 10 minutes. Strain it and enjoy with sugar, honey, lemon, milk or other tasty additions. You can make a larger amount of tea if you wish and then drink the leftover tea for later.

Gotu Kola - Herbal remedy for Stuttering: A few coriander seeds and a quarter teaspoon of palm candy (a candy obtained from palm tree) can be chewed along with 3-4 dried leaves (or powdered leaves) of gotu kola (also known as Brahmi) on a regular basis (twice or thrice a day, until you get rid of stuttering). It will help in controlling stammering.

Gotu Kola - Herbal remedy for Varicose Veins: Gotu kola is native to tropical regions. Gotu kola is good for varicose veins by maintaining healthy blood vessels and tissues. Gotu kola is available as a tea or a liquid extract. Take a cup of gotu  kola tea twice daily.  Boil two tablespoons of chopped fresh herb or dried gotu kola  in a cup of water. Turn off heat. Strain and drink when cool.

Gotu Kola - Herbal remedy for Wounds: The roots and leaves of the plant are used as medicinal treatments for wounds. Gotu kola is helpful for a number of different wounds including deep ones or burn wounds. It can also help to prevent large scars from being left over. Gotu kola can be taken internally or applied externally on top of the wound. 

Gotu Kola, Indian Pennywort and Pomegranate Rind - Herbal remedy for Gingivitis:  Indian pennywort has potent wound-healing properties and pomegranate rind has high tannin content, when combined, these herbs are useful for chronic periodontitis. Boil one chopped tablespoon fresh or dried pennywort with one tablespoon of chopped pomegranate rind in a cup of water. Let it cool down, strain and use as mouthwash.

Gotu Kola, Vallarai - Herbal remedy for Stuttering: Vallarai is a very good remedy for reducing stammering. Take some coriander seeds and palm candy and place inside 3 or 4 vallarai leaves and chew it. Dry some vallarai leaves away from sunlight and then powder them. This powder mixed with half a glass of water and taken regularly helps reduce stammering. A paste made from crushing some dried leaves and a tablespoon of water can also be mixed in a glass of milk and taken twice daily. This is an Ayurveda remedy. Available www.nealsyard.co.uk
