Mullein – Herbal remedy for Hearing Loss: Oil from the leaves of the mullein plant is commonly used as ear drops. It soothes inflammation and fights ear infections. Mullein can be used in combination with St. John's wort and garlic to treat ear infections. Mullein essential oil can be prepared at home. The source plant is abundantly found in North America, Asia and Europe. Flowers (fresh or dried) are commonly used for making homemade mullein oil. The oil is prepared by infusion method.  Add fresh or dried blooms in a clean jar. Fill the jar with olive oil and stir to remove air bubbles (if any). Tighten the jar lid, and place it in a warm place, preferably in the sun or near the window. Shake every day and after about 2 weeks, strain the oil. Keep it in a clean container for use in your ear. Add a  paste made from grinding two fresh cloves of garlic and the juice obtained from grinding one tablespoon of fresh St John’s wort to the mullein oil. If only dried St John’s wort is available warm one tablespoon of olive oil and add one teaspoon of dried herbs. Let it stand for 10-minutes, strain and add to mullein oil.

Mullein - Herbal remedy for Mumps: Infuse some mullein leaves in boiling water.  Soak a face cloth in infusion and apply on affected area.
