Wormwood Remedy

Herb Action: Antibiotic, antiseptic, antirheumatic, antimalarial (some species), antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, bitter digestive tonic, bile stimulant, carminative, diuretic, digestive, expels worms, expectorant, induces perspiration, menstrual regulator, uterine stimulant
Herbal Warnings: Avoid during Pregnancy and Breastfeeding. Avoid heavy doses or prolonged usage as this may prove toxic.
Wormwood contains thujone, a narcotic poison that can damage the nervous system and cause mental deterioration. The levels vary considerably among the different species, however, and usually very high doses over a period of years are required before any effects are noted.


Wormwood - Herbal  remedy for Malaria: Wormwood is very effective against malaria. It is thought to be particularly useful in treating drug resistant malaria. Wormwood tea is prepared by adding one teaspoon of the dried herbs (stems, leaves, flowering parts) to 250 millilitres cup of boiling water. Allow the mixture to simmer for about 10-15 minutes. Drink three cups of the tea daily.
Health Warning: People SHOULD NOT use wormwood tea for longer than three weeks as the wormwood has toxic constituents that are harmful if ingested in large quantities and for extended periods of time.
