Milkweed

Health Warning:  Common milkweed is mildly toxic to humans, but only if eaten in large amounts. If you eat large amounts of any improperly prepared milkweed species, you may experience bloating, fever, difficulty breathing, dilated pupils and muscle spasms, and the result can be fatal.

Cooking Precautions: To make milkweed safe for human consumption, it needs to be boiled in hot water several times. Do make sure to discard the used water before milkweed can be cooked.  Boiling removes the water-soluble toxins, making the milkweed safe for eating. However, if you experience any of the above symptoms after eating milkweed, even if you have prepared it correctly, stop eating it and visit your medical doctor immediately.


Milkweed - Herbal remedy for Moles: Extract the liquid from a bunch of Milkweed and gently rub it on the moles.
