Coconut Oil

Coconut: Coco Nucifers
Coconut Oil, or copra oil, is the edible oil extracted from the kernel or meat of mature coconuts harvested from the coconut palm. It contains mostly saturated fat, which is also found in large quantities in butter and red meat. Coconut Water is the clear liquid inside coconuts. it has a refreshing, sweet, nutty taste. Not to be confused with coconut milk or coconut oil. Coconut Milk is traditionally made by grating the white inner flesh of brown coconuts and mixing the shredded coconut flesh with a small amount of water in order to suspend the fat present in the grated flesh.

Coconut Oil - Home remedy for Flu and Influenza: Massage with coconut oil to soothe body aches associated with the flu. This is best done before going to sleep to help your body relax before sleeping.

Coconut Oil - Home remedy for Eczema:  Apply some coconut oil to the skin to prevent itching.

Coconut Oil - Home remedy for Thyroid Disorders: Coconut oil is suggested as a natural remedy for thyroid disease for two reasons. The first is that coconut oil is recommended for cooking. This may help keep your weight down as you manage your thyroid disease. The second reason is that it may indirectly support thyroid function. This happens because the fat in coconut oil improves sensitivity of tissues to thyroid hormones.
