Buttermilk is the milky liquid that is left over after churning butter from cow's milk. It is low in fat and contains most of the protein found originally in the cow's milk. Buttermilk ferments into a thick, tangy cream. The term Buttermilk also refers to a range of fermented milk drinks common in warm climates where fresh milk sours quickly. This fermented cow's milk is known as Cultured Buttermilk. Buttermilk should be stored in a fridge.
Cumin, Asafoetida and Buttermilk - Herbal remedy for Gastritis: Boil a teaspoon of cumin seeds in one cup of water on a low flame for five minutes. Strain and add a pinch of asafoetida. Put this mixture in a glass of buttermilk or tamarind water and drink. Tamarind water is obtained by blending tamarind paste or some fresh tamarind fruits with water after removing the hard skin and seeds.
