Traditional Usages: Fever, Colds, Flu, Asthma, Catarrh, Nasal Catarrh, Sinusitis, Sore Throat, Respiratory Disorders, Chest Rubs, Congestive Headache, Pyrrhoea and Bleeding Gums, Traditional Aboriginal Fever Remedy, Malaria, Typhoid, Diptheria, Foul Diarrhea, Vaginal Infections with an unpleasant Odour, Gangrenous Conditions, Antiseptic, Herpes, Whooping Cough, Emphysema, Abscess, Acne

Parts Used: Leaves, Bark, Oil from distilled leaves
Administration Method: Essential oil, Chopped leaf for infusions.
Herb Action: Secretomotory, Expectorant, Weakly antispasmodic
Possible Side Effects: In rare cases, after taking eucalyptus preparations nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea may occur.  
Herbal Research: Eucalyptus
Health Warning: Avoid during pregnancy and breastfeeding. In large doses Eucalyptus is toxic. Eucalyptus preparations should not be applied to the face, especially the nose, of babies and very young children.  Avoid Eucalyptus if there is Inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract and the bile ducts; or serious liver diseases. 


Eucalyptus Oil - Herbal remedy for CroupAdd a few drops of eucalyptus oil to a bowl filled with hot water. Place a towel over the head and inhale the steam. The water should not be too hot as the steam can burn the face.

Eucalyptus Oil - Herbal remedy for Pneumonia:  Add 5-10 drops of eucalyptus oil to a pot of boiling water. Place a bath towel over your head and inhale the steam from the water.
