Possible Side Effects: Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement within 24 hours after use of a laxative may indicate a serious condition. The use of stimulant laxatives for more than 2 weeks requires medical supervision.

Aloe is considered safe but should never be applied to an open wound. It is important that you consult a doctor before using aloe.


Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Alopecia:  Some people with alopecia have had success using aloe vera. It is suggested that you apply the gel to the scalp every night before going to bed. You can also take 2 tablespoons of aloe juice orally each day.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for  Anal Bleeding: The gel from the aloe vera plant may be useful in treating bleeding hemorrhoids. Put two or three drops of aloe vera gel directly on your hemorrhoids for relief from pain.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for  Body Rash: The most effective way to use aloe vera is to break open one of the leaves and apply the gel inside directly to the rash or irritation. Other forms of aloe vera can be found in over-the-counter creams, gels, ointments, lotions and juice - always check the list of ingredients on the products.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Burns: A widely used home remedy for treating burns, aloe vera cream or gel applied to the affected area 3 to 4 times per day soothes. Aloe vera can be an effective treatment for healing first-degree and second-degree burns. Use fresh aloe gel for the best results or buy a commercial product with minimal additives. 

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for Cold Sores: Aloe Vera helps attack the herpes virus in all stages of its life cycle. Drink aloe vera juice three times daily or apply aloe vera lotion on the sores.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Conjunctivitis: Put some aloe vera juice in water. Soak a clean cloth in it and apply over eyes.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Dandruff: Before shampooing your hair rub a good amount of aloe vera gel on the scalp. Leave it on for 5 minutes before washing out. Aloe vera is a natural healing agent that clarifies, soothes and repairs damaged skin. It fights dandruff and removes flakes so the scalp can heal.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Dermatitis:  Apply aloe vera gel on the affected area. Apply three times daily until condition improves.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for E.Coli: Aloe vera has historically been known for assisting the functions of the gastrointestinal tract and for its properties of soothing, cleansing and helping the body to maintain healthy tissues. Drink aloe vera juice three times per day.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Eczema:  Make a paste by crushing several aloe vera leaves. Apply paste to the affected area three times a day for a month.  Alternately apply aloe vera gel.   

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Epilepsy:  Daily consumption of 4 ounces of aloe vera nectar or juice can be beneficial. Make sure you distinguish between aloe vera cream, used externally, juice which is taken as a drink, and gel which is the jelly substance in the plant that can be taken internally or applied externally.

Aloe vera, a tropical plant with spikey edges and gel-filled center is used both  as a gel and  as a juice. A staple in traditional medicine, aloe vera is gaining  attention in the Western world . Research continues to evolve regarding the benefits and risks of drinking aloe juice. 

According to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center aloe vera which includes the plant and its  extracted juice has been studied for potential effects on psoriasis and other skin issues along with internal issues like constipation ,  epilepsy , diabetes and other illnesses. The center also notes studies indicating potential anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects. Other institutions such as the American College of Angiology report potential strides for heart conditions while those studying dental and oral issues also cite potential benefits for treating and medicating oral diseases and conditions.  Aloe vera gel is generally safe and is not linked to any side effects. To avoid irritation you should never apply the gel to open wounds. The juice may also interact with certain medications, such as diabetes drugs.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Fungal Infection: Applying aloe vera gel mixed with castor oil can provide relief from symptoms and help cure the disease.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for Genital Herpes: Aloe Vera cream or gel may be beneficial for genital herpes in men when applied to the affected area. Apply twice daily until condition improves. But it should not be used for more than 2 weeks.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Gingivitis: To help relieve swollen gums, apply a little aloe vera gel on your gums.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Heartburn:  Take one glass of aloe Vera juice twice daily.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for Heat Rash:  Apply aloe vera on affected area. Whether you have an aloe plant growing on the kitchen windowsill or aloe lotion in the cabinet, this plant possesses a gel that relieves the itch of heat rash, as well as boosts the healing process. Apply aloe vera two to three times per day, making sure to wash affected areas in between applications.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Hives:  Aloe Vera gel is a commonly used herbal remedy for healing hives. Apply directly on your skin.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Mastitis: The gel from a fresh aloe vera leaf will help soothe and heal sore and cracked nipples. You can either obtain the fresh gel by peeling a fresh aloe leaf or buy aloe vera gel from health stores or online.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Moles: Cut the stem of aloe vera and apply the thick pulp on the affected area - or you can apply aloe vera gel.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Mumps: Cut an aloe vera leaf in half and apply the natural gel on inflamed area. You could also purchase and use aloe vera gel.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Obesity:  Aloe Vera juice improves digestion and cleanses the digestive tract. Thus it helps in the treatment of obesity.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for Oral Herpes: Apply fresh aloe vera gel on the cold sore. Aloe vera gel can be obtained by splitting a leaf in halves or bought from health stores.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Piles: Use aloe vera to help reduce skin dryness associated with hemorrhoids. Cut a leaf from the aloe vera plant and apply it directly to the hemorrhoid. Allow the aloe vera to dry before wearing underpants, shorts or slacks. Substitute aloe vera for witch hazel on soft toilet paper after every other bowel movement. If you don't have an aloe vera plant, simply use soft toilet tissue coated with aloe vera lotion. Allow the aloe vera lotion to dry before you wear underwear and slacks or shorts.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Pimples:  Aloe vera is an antibiotic that is all natural and provides a cooling sensation when applied to the skin. To get relief from acne apply aloe vera directly from the aloe vera plant. You will need to cut off one of the leaves from the plant and remove the skin from the leaf. After the skin is removed with a knife, rinse off the aloe using cold tap water and pat dry with a paper towel. Cut the piece of aloe down the middle to expose the gel-like interior of the aloe vera leaf. Apply the gel directly to the skin. This can be repeated as often as desired. Aloe vera can be kept in the refrigerator for about a week if stored in an air tight container. If you do not have access to an aloe vera plant, you can purchase aloe vera in a gel form from health food stores.

Aloe Vera – Herbal remedy for Rectal Bleeding: The gel from the aloe vera plant is useful in treating bleeding hemorrhoids. You can find aloe vera gel at health food stores. Put two or three drops of aloe vera gel directly on your hemorrhoids for relief from pain.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Scalding: Aloe vera is a useful herbal cure for reducing swelling associated with burns. The gel that is located inside the aloe vera leaves contains properties that promote skin healing and can help to minimize pain and swelling.  Break the leaves of the plant to extract the gel or,  apply aloe vera gel purchased from health stores.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Sexually Transmitted Infections: Aloe vera is a powerful healing agent against scars and wounds left by syphilis. Apply a thick layer of aloe vera gel to the wounds and let it dry. Apply twice daily until you see the scabs falling away.
Health Warning: Keep in mind that Aloe Vera gel should not be applied on an open sore and always wear protective gloves during the application to prevent further spread of the disease.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Shingles: Aloe vera can be a helpful herb to use in the treatment of shingles. Aloe vera has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that make it an excellent choice in fighting shingles. You can purchase a gel made with aloe vera at  pharmacies and health stores. However, some people prefer to use an aloe vera plant, breaking off a leaf and applying the gel directly to the shingles area.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Sores:  Swish the mouth with pure aloe vera juice for pain relief to sores in the mouth.
Health Warning: Make sure the aloe vera you use is pure.

Aloe Vera - Herbal remedy for Ulcerative Colitis (inflammatory bowel disease): For inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis), aloe gel has been taken by mouth at a dose of 100 milliliters twice daily for four weeks. Aloe vera is mainly used as a topical gel to heal burns, sunburns and other skin conditions. While drinking aloe vera juice can relieve occasional constipation, it is not recommended for irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
