Skullcap - Herbal remedy for Anxiety: Skullcap relaxes, tones and renews the nervous system. It calms oversensitivity, helps hysteria, depression and exhaustion, and eases stress during PMS. It decreases restlessness and nervousness. Fresh or dried leaves of skullcap can be taken as a herbal tea by boiling one teaspoon in two cups water. Skullcap powder can also be used. Add 1 oz. of the powdered herb to a pint of boiling water, let it infuse for 10-minutes. Take half a cup every few hours.

Skullcap - Herbal remedy for Autism: Although early American herbalists primarily regarded skullcap as a digestive aid, skullcap leaves were originally used by ancient Chinese physicians as a tranquilizer and sedative. This herb helps to reduce hyperactivity, a symptom experienced by some autism patients. Skullcap may also help alleviate sleep related problems associated with autism. It can be taken as a tea. To prepare this tea, steep one tea bag in a cup of hot water for five to ten minutes or until the desired strength of tea is reached. Because the herb has a somewhat bitter taste, many like to enhance their tea with lemon and honey, or mixing in other herbs for a more pleasant blend. Two to three cups should be consumed daily as a remedy for any of these common problems.
Health Warning: Those who are currently on any medications should consult a doctor prior to using skullcap tea to avoid any unwanted interactions. Although side effects are rare, skullcap can cause euphoria, confusion and headaches.
