Coughs

Coughs:  A cough is a reflex which helps to clear the large breathing passages from secretions, irritants, microbes and foreign particles. Coughing can happen voluntarily as well as involuntarily.

Frequent coughing usually indicates the presence of a disease. Coughing is usually caused by a respiratory tract infection but it can be triggered by choking, air pollution, asthma, smoking, acid reflux, lung tumours, heart failure and acute bronchitis.

See your doctor if you've had a cough for more than three weeks after a viral infection, or if your cough is progressively getting worse. If you experience breathing difficulties, chest pain or you cough up blood, speak to your doctor immediately.

Always seek the advice of your doctor before taking herbal remedies
